How to stop squirrels damaging trees
Even though squirrels are not classified as Rockville raccoon removal pests they can still damage the trees in the areas that they live in. As their natural habitat shrinks they are forced into urban areas. Squirrels constantly have to chew on tree bark or tree cones in order to keep their teeth from becoming too long. In nature, this is easily attainable but it becomes more problematic the closer they move to humans. It is a severe problem for farmers with fruit orchards, the squirrels damage the trees and eat the seeds. This can also have a negative effect on the surrounding ecosystem.
Once they migrate to cities the trees that they start chewing on are typically found in your Rockville snake removal garden.
Keeping your trees safe
There are a few inexpensive DIY Rockville rat control ways that you can try to save your trees from being damaged.
1. Surround the trunk of your tree in galvanized steel or Rockville bat removal PVC pipe. This smooth surface allows the squirrels no place to grip while attempting to climb the tree.
2. You can even try covering the tree trunk in aluminum foil. This will also stop the squirrels from chewing on the trunk.
3. Use a bird net. You can drape a bird net over the tree. This will prevent the squirrel from reaching any of the branches.
4. You can make a mixture containing thymol and spray it on the trees. Thymol is a form of thyme oil that naturally repels squirrels.
5. Distract the squirrels by placing food items in areas of the garden that are far away from the trees.
6. Provide the squirrel with hard nuts or acorns so that they can grind their teeth down without resorting to damaging your trees.
7. Try hanging Rockville rodent extermination reflective disks in the trees. The sunlight that reflects off of these will often scare the squirrels away and will keep them away from your trees.
As squirrels can jump up to 4 feet in the air, it is very difficult to “squirrel proof” your trees properly. They can also jump from one tree to another. If your tree is located close to a fence or wall they can use that to gain access.
The only way that you can ensure the absolute safety of your trees is by excluding Rockville bird control squirrels from your property. This can be achieved by erecting a fence that is higher than 4 ft tall. You need to ensure that there are no openings in the fence that the squirrel can fit through. They are tiny creatures and will be able to fit through even the smallest opening. They can also climb up any surface that is not completely smooth.
It is noteworthy to keep all these things in mind when you are deciding on the type of fence to surround your property with. This will not only protect your trees but also your home from being damaged.
